Topeka USD 501 commissioned our team at Architect One to lead the effort to develop a master plan for the former state hospital grounds. The primary goal of this effort was to provide ongoing educational programs for Topeka Public Schools and to enable collaborative and evolving opportunities among strategic partners and the entire regional community. The results of our efforts provided a framework for developing ‘Kanza Park’, upgrading roads and utilities, constructing way finding signage for the Prairie Trail, upgrading parking areas, developing a restroom facility, and remodeling an old, outdated building into a state-of-the-art educational facility, known today as Topeka Center for Advanced Learning.
