Progress Continues on CoreFirst Bank & Trust Headquarters

Significant progress has been made on the renovation and innovation upgrades taking place at CoreFirst Bank & Trust’s main headquarters in Topeka, Kansas. While this 50-year-old building has served three generations of customers and employees, this is the first major renovation to the bank since it was originally constructed in 1971.

In recent weeks, the interior framing has neared completion, electrical and plumbing has been installed and drywall is starting to go up! The new staircase that will replace the bank’s original escalator has been welded into place and the new elevator will soon be installed. The steel and roof are also in place for the west addition and new floors will be poured this week!

Once complete, exterior renovations will provide a more prominently centered main entry as well as the addition of a new, enclosed-entrance, commons and event space in the upper-level of the bank. This makeover will also transition the organization toward long-term sustainability with all new energy-efficient windows, new heating and cooling components and LED lighting throughout the building. Interior renovations will include new amenities and touch points for customers to make their retail banking experience more user-friendly and convenient.

The comprehensive renovation has been an all-hands on deck approach with the teams from Architect OneMcElroy’s Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning and McElroy Electric, as well as KBS Constructors leading the build team. Construction is scheduled to wrap up at the end of the summer.
