BIM Technician

Job Description
Architect One is seeking a BIM Technician/Revit Modeler to provide primary support on modular construction projects in the fast-paced world of mission critical power distribution. This position will function under the daily guidance of Architect One staff with experience in this studio of work. Confidentiality is routine in this environment and the applicant must be comfortable working under strict adherence to non-disclosure agreements. Qualified Candidates must be a US citizen to be considered, and must pass a third-party background check.

Duties will also include modeling support for traditional ground up construction projects as schedules allow.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to the client's needs to create functional, cost effective, constructible design solutions.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form with client, vendors, and Architect One team.
  • Review client provided drawings to identify scope and applicability. Upon onboarding, independently review and refer to previously completed project documents to rapidly ramp up awareness of goals and objectives. Ability to read construction documents including MEP and structural systems is mandatory.
  • Attend weekly to daily client meetings on project objectives, constructability, and benchmarks; most if not all meetings are conducted in video conference format. Attend in-person meetings or site visits as required, generally 0-2 per year. Regular travel is not a main component of this position.
  • Use current version(s) of Revit Architecture to prepare detailed and precise LOD 300-400 models for usage and reference by the client, broader engineering team, and fabricators. The ideal candidate is comfortable in the Autodesk Construction Cloud workflow environment, work shared modeling best practices, custom family creation, view template management and contains a disciplined adherence to standards. Use Autodesk Navisworks or other Autodesk clash detection services to resolve conflicts. Creation of a company Revit template is not a requirement of this position, but inputs for future inclusion are welcomed.
  • Create construction documents for building permits in multiple jurisdictions (floor plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, etc).
  • Review shop drawings for constructability and conformance to client specifications.
  • Read and document specifications for applicability on a given project. Experience writing specifications is a benefit but is not required; applicant will not need to write specifications for this position.
  • Employ sound time management practices while working on multiple projects simultaneously. Complete weekly accounting of time via entry on company’s digital time sheets.

Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen. NOTE: This is a mandatory requirement of the Client(s) whom AO works for due to their status as a US Govt agency, or consultants for a US Govt agency.

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering (Bachelor or Masters) from accredited program in the United States preferred. Candidates with associate degree and/or commensurate previous professional experience or other certificates will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience utilizing Autodesk Revit Architecture and/or Revit MEP in an LOD 300-400 environment.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio sessions preferred.
  • MS Office software, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Working proficiency with CSI Masterformat,
  • Professional working knowledge and experience with the International Building Codes (IBC, NEC, IFC, IECC), 2010 ADAAG.

Base salary: $51,000/yr - $80,000/yr
