Manhattan Area Technical College Labs

Our team at Architect One is excited to share a recently completed project! Manhattan Area Technical College in Manhattan, KS exists to prepare its students for careers in a variety of high-demand technical fields. Working closely with key stakeholders at the school, our engineering consultants, and our general contractor, we were able to create a number of budget-friendly solutions for the 53-year-old school!

We relocated the labs for the Medical Laboratory Technician and Biotech programs from mobile units to the main building’s interior. That included a Chemistry lab, a Microbiology lab, a Cell Culture lab, and an Anatomy & Physiology/Biology lab. In addition, we installed a classroom, four offices, and storage rooms. We were also able to remedy a sound issue that existed between two classrooms.

The new improvements will not only upgrade life-safety systems, they also allow MATC to accommodate enrollment increases in the programs that require the use of the labs. Additionally, furniture in the school was up-cycled by the staff and students! With upgrades completed to match the remainder of the campus and the removal of service lines in the former cafeteria space, the learning environment is now better-suited for students and faculty alike!

As always, we are honored to partner with KBS Constructors and community leaders in building the very best for those invested in the future of Kansas!
